Most of us had it when we were young. A penny bank or as many called it a ‘gullak‘ in Hindi or ‘booghin in Kashmiri. A clay pot with a small inlet at the top to squeeze in coins and folded notes with a goal that we would save enough to buy our dream things one day.
A video of a woman breaking such a gullak has gone viral on social media. And we must say whoever saved in this gullak was quite determined not to break it for years. As she goes on breaking the gullak with a steel pestle, the money starts springing out of the broken pot.
The video has garnered over 38 million views on Facebook with nearly 1.5 lakh people reacting to it.
Reactions to the video are hilarious, to say the least.
“Lagta hai sare mohalla ka hafta wasool hua hai (It seems protection money has been collected from the entire locality),” a user commented.
The people, however, were curious that gullak did not have any demonetised Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes.
“Isse Gullak nahi Khud a bank kehte hai (it is not called a gullak, it is a person’s own bank),” another user said.
