Srinagar: The first batch of COVID-19 vaccine is set to reach J&K by today or tomorrow, though the inclement weather in Kashmir may delay its arrival in case flights are not able to land here.
Dr Qazi Haroon, State Immunisation Officer, J&K told The Kashmir Monitor that the batch of 2.5 vaccines is in New Delhi and will reach Jammu soon.
“It is in Delhi, we are expecting that it will arrive by today or tomorrow. There was an issue since air traffic has been impacted by the weather,” he said.
Dr Haroon said that they have identified 28 sites, 14 each in Kashmir and Jammu.
“We will start with health workers,” he said
He said that more vaccines would arrive in coming weeks, which would be used to vaccinate after this lot.
Pertinently, the first phase of the drive will cover 30 crore people in India.
