SRINAGAR: Nine laborers are feared trapped after an under-construction tunnel caved in at Khooni Nallah on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.
“Adit tunnel to T3 caved in at Khooni Nallah. Rescue operation in progress. Deputy Commissioner Ramban along with Project Director NHAI, DIG, and SSP Ramban are present on the spot. Nine laborers are feared trapped inside. They include two locals,” said Aamir Ali, Director, of Disaster Management.
A local news agency said as many as two workers have been rescued. They have been rushed to a hospital for treatment. “Many others are still missing. Work has been going on to build an underground tunnel from Khoni Nallah to Makarkoot,” reports said.
A massive operation is on to rescue the trapped laborers. Traffic has been stopped from both sides along the highway.
