Srinagar, May 07: Serving as a grim clue to what had transpired in Shopian on Sunday, a purported video of the encounter that went viral on Monday shows a trooper firing a volley of bullets inside a residential house somewhere in the district.
Apparently shot from inside the house, the video reverberates with loud gunshots which, it shows, were being shot in the lane outside the house.
Soon after, a trooper, apparently of state police’s Special Operation Group (SOG), fires a few rounds towards the house from the open gate without caring for any SOPs.
On Sunday, apart from five civilian deaths in clashes, as many as 11 people with bullet injuries were brought to Srinagar hospitals. Rest 30 odd wounded people brought here had pellet and stone injuries.
The encounter in Shopian devoured five militants including Hizb Commander and slain Burhan Wani’s close associate Saddam Padder and a University Professor Mohammad Rafi Bhat, who had gone missing on Friday.
