SRINAGAR: A giant snake was spotted in Khunmoh.

The snake was caught on camera slithering in the trees. The golden-coloured reptile was hiding in the tress. Later he slowly slithered down and crossed the wall.

Mercury has crossed 31 degrees Celcius in most parts of Kashmir. On hot summer days, snakes seek out shade and shelter to stay cool. They can be found in tall grass or beneath rocks or trees.

Snakes are cold-blooded animals. They can’t maintain their body temperature. During summer, their bodies get overheated due to the immense heat,  which can even kill them. Therefore they come out to find a cooler place to hide from the blazing heat of the sun. Summer is also the time when most snake attacks happen.
