Uri Cricket Premier League inagurated

Srinagar : The ninth edition of Uri Cricket Premier League (UPL) was inaugurated by the Commander Kalapahar Brigade at the Dagger Sports Node.*
UPL was started in the year 2010 with participation of just 12 teams.
The event has gained wide popularity since then and *the ninth edition of the league will witness games between 80 teams.
The inauguration of UPL was attended by Army officers of Kalapahar Brigade and civil dignitaries including Bashir -Ul-Haq, SDM Uri, M Raina, SDPO Uri,Dr Shajjad Shafi & Haji Mussadiq.
More than 500 local people & fans also attended the inauguration function.
The event started with the Welcome Speech by Zonal Physical Education Officer followed by Cultural Performance by the students of Army Goodwill School Uri. Thereafter, the team captains were presented with the UPL-2018 caps by the dignitaries.
The UPL-2918 was declared open with the release of tricolour balloons and pigeons.
SDM Uri Mr Bashir lauded efforts of Kalapahar Brigade & motivated the young players to play with true sportsmanship.
The tournament shall be played on the knock out basis over the next one month
