‘Udta Srinagar:’ 186 peddlers detained, 107 cases filed

As the drug menace continues in Kashmir, the government revealed that in the summer capital of Srinagar, 107 cases have been registered and 186 drug peddlers arrested.

An official spokesman disclosed that during a meeting chaired by the Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar on Tuesday, the police reported 107 registered cases in Srinagar district this year leading to the arrest of 186 drug peddlers (including 16 PITs and 2 PSA).

“Significant quantities of contraband substances were seized, including 108.52 gms of brown sugar, 17.07 kgs of heroin, 11.81 kg of charas, 19.5 kg of fuki, 1,361 PSY syrup bottles and 41,812 PSY capsules/tablets.

Additionally, illicit cultivation of 11.46 kg ganja, 2.16 quintals of bang/poppy straw/cannabis was destroyed, along with a cash recovery of Rs 26.46 lakh from the drug peddlers,” the statement said.
