BUDGAM, MARCH 26: A daylong district level awareness programme under Swatch Bharat Mission programme was held today at Shiekh-ul-Alam Hall in Budgam.
The programme was organized by District Panchayat Office Budgam in collaboration with CEEO India.
Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Mohammad Harun Malik while speaking on the occasion urged student fraternity to be ambassadors of the Swatchh Bharat Mission to take the cleanliness drive to every household.
Stressing on the cleanliness and sanitation, DC informed that by June 30, 2018, there will be toilet facility in every household in the district.
“For this change, we have been forming Swachhata Committees in every village to ensure every household has toilet facilities,” DC said.
He said that students will be part of these committees to identify households lacking toilet facilities.
On the occasion, DC also stressed on maintaining personal hygiene and surroundings clean.
Terming the use of polythene as hazardous for human health and environment, DC urged students to play their part in curbing the menace of polyphone use.
On the occasion, speakers deliberated on the importance of toilets in schools and personal hygiene.
Among others, CPO Budgam, District Chief Agricultural Officer, District Panchayat Officer, BDO Budgam and scores of students from different schools were also present on the occasion.
NSD artists presented a number of folk shows to spread awareness about hygiene, cleanliness and sanitation. Meanwhile, DC also distributed mementoes amongst those who have done remarkable work under Swatchh Bharat Mission drive in the district.
