Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Police in Srinagar have arrested three drug peddlers and recovered psychotropic substances, cash and drone from their possession.
A spokesperson said that a Police party of Police Station Safakadal at a checkpoint established in Safakadal, intercepted three persons riding a motorcycle (Pulser) bearing registration number JK01AF-0207. These individuals have been identified as Ajaz Ahmad Ganie son of Manzoor Ahmad resident of Athwajan, Srinagar, Owais Ahmad Gojree son of Bashir Ahmad Gojree resident of Braripora, Safakadal and Mir Roman son of Mir Mohammad Hashim resident of Ali Masjid, Eidgah. During search, 140 bottles of Codeine Phosphate concealed in a box, cash amounting to ₹38,530 (believed to be proceeds of narcotics), 01 drone and 03 mobile phones have been recovered from their possession.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 136/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Safakadal and investigation has been initiated.
During the preliminary investigation, it has been learnt that these drug peddlers were using drones to monitor the movement of consumers (buyers), ensuring that buyers are not accompanied by Police, and also to track the movement of Police within their area of operation to avoid potential traps by the Police.
