Srinagar, Sep 26: Thousands of mourners on Wednesday took part in the last rites of slain militant killed in Tujjer area of North Kashmir’s Sopore town on Tuesday.
The slain militant identified as Abdul Majeed Mir, affiliated with the LeT outfit, was killed along with his associate on Wednesday during an encounter with the government forces.
Reports said that mourners from different areas of the town attended the funeral prayers of the slain militant and later the body was taken to martyrs graveyard in Nowpora area of the town for the burial.
The mourners chanted pro-Islam and pro-freedom slogans. Reports said that they dispersed peacefully after the culmination of last rites. Meanwhile, internet service that had been suspended in parts of Sopore shortly after the start of gunfight was restored on Wednesday.
4 B’pora youth booked under PSA
Srinagar, Sep 26: At least four youth have been booked by Bandipora police and civil administration under Public Safety Act and shifted to different Jammu jails. The youth according to police had been arrested a month ago on charges of stone-pelting.
All the four youth are from restive Hajin town of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district who have been identified as Gowhar Hassan Parray, Ishfaq Ahmad Parray and Aijaz Ahmad Mir and Bilal Ahmad Parray.
Reports said that Gowhar and Ishfaq have been shifted to Kot Balwal while Aijaz and Bilal have been shifted to Hira Nagar jail. (CNS)
