Insha Bashir was just 15 when she met with a life-threatening accident. Though Insha survived, she suffered a fatal spinal cord injury which rendered her paralyzed from the waist down.

Hailing from Budgam, she slipped into depression for five years. Confined to a wheelchair, she thought that it was the end of her world. Her parents admitted her to a rehab center at Bemina, Srinagar to recover from depression.

Life took a turn for good when she met some paraplegic basketball players. Inspired by them, she decided to give basketball a shot. And as they say, there was no looking back. She has won several national awards and represented India in the US.
