Srinagar: Former Indian cricketers have joined the chorus to praise the remarkable finishing skills of Pakistan’s cricketer Asif Ali.
With a combination of swashbuckling flair and brute strength, Asif Ali made a mockery of the steep task before him as he hit four sixes to run the target down.
With whopping four sixes in the penultimate over against Afghanistan on Friday night in Dubai, Asif bailed Pakistan out with a five-wicket win and kept their winning streak intact at the T20 World Cup 2021.
This earned him the title of an excellent finisher with praises sweeping across social media along with the Indian cricket stalwarts appreciating his notable knock. This included VVS Laxman, Aakash Chopra and Harbhajan Singh, along with Jaydev Unadkat tweeting about it.
“The Pakistan juggernaut rolls on. They faltered towards the end of both innings, but Asif Ali again pulled the fat out of the fire. Valiant Afghanistan gave it their all, it just wasn’t enough. What entertainment for the fans!#AFGvPAK #T20WorldCup,” VVS Laxman wrote on his official Twitter handle.
Similarly, Harbhajan Singh tweeted, “Asif Ali showed a lot of confidence by refusing single on the last ball and finishing it in style by hitting those four big 6 in the next over .. clean and powerful hitter #AFGvPAK #T20WorldCup @StarSportsIndia.”
With 24 required off the final two overs, Asif looked determined to exploit Afghanistan’s weakest bowler as he took on Karim Janat to slam four sixes in the 19th over.
