The event, held in the Rawathpora area, was part of the “Swachhata Pakhwada 2023” initiative, a 15-day campaign dedicated to various activities for the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Led by Assistant Director, Suraya Anwar, and supported by four Senior Statistical Officers, approximately 40 participants actively engaged with residents during the door-to-door awareness campaign. The Swachhata Pakhwada 2023, with the overarching theme of “Waste to Wealth,” aims to promote circularity in waste management. As part of this nationwide campaign, each Zonal/Regional Office has been assigned specific activities, with NSSO-FOD Regional Office Srinagar tasked with organizing the door-to-door awareness campaign in the form of a rally at a public location.
During the rally, participants emphasized the hazards associated with the use of polythene bags, urging residents to adopt alternatives that are eco-friendly and sustainable. Additionally, they emphasized the significance of maintaining cleanliness, personal hygiene, and sanitation practices in their day-to-day lives.
The response from the residents of Rawathpora was overwhelmingly positive, reflecting their willingness to support the cause and embrace the message conveyed during the campaign. By actively engaging with the community, the NSSO-FOD Srinagar aims to contribute to the larger goal of achieving universal sanitation coverage and promoting a cleaner, healthier environment.
