Stay away from militancy; concentrate on studies: UJC Gen Secy tells Kashmir youth

Srinagar, Oct 13: General Secretary United Jihad Council Sheikh Jameel-ur-Rehman, who also heads the militant outfit Tehreek-ul-Mujhadeen, Saturday appealed students of Kashmir to stay away from “armed struggle” and concentrate on their studies.
In an emailed statement to The Kashmir Monitor, Sheikh Jameel-ur-Rehman, while paying rich tributes to slain Manan Wani, said: “Youth are our valuable asset and if they don’t concentrate on their studies then those pro-India elements will find it easy to stretch the period of our thralldom. I request militant commanders as well to desist from recruiting students,” he said in the statement.
He, the statement added, said that the pace India has “adopted to kill youth of Kashmir has back fired as more and more educated and qualified youth are joining militant ranks.”
”I request students to concentrate on their technical and professional studies as they are the ones who have to run this ongoing movement,” he said.
Jameel-ur-Rehman claimed that “non-local labourers and Indian troops are casting votes in Kashmir”.
He said elections are not any solution to Kashmir issue.
