New Delhi: The stage is all set for the third phase of polling on Tuesday. 93 seats will go for voting in the third phase.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are slated to cast their votes in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency on May 7.
PM Modi is expected to arrive at 7:30 am, followed by Shah at 9:15 am. Furthermore, Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor, VK Saxena, will cast his franchisee at 10:15 am.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to cast his vote at Nishan Higher Secondary School in Ahmedabad during the third phase of the Lok Sabha polls. The school has been designated as a polling booth, and preparations for polling arrangements are currently underway.
Ahead of the high-profile visits, security measures have been ramped up in Gandhinagar to facilitate smooth voting procedures. Authorities have fortified security arrangements to manage the influx of voters as well as uphold law and order.
In Gujarat, the BJP has historically secured all 26 available seats in both the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha polls. However, in the upcoming elections, the Congress has allied with the AAP and will contest from 24 seats, while the AAP will contest in two constituencies. Voting for 25 out of the 26 seats in Gujarat is scheduled for the third phase of the general elections on May 7.
The constituencies in the third phase cover various regions of Gujarat, except for Surat, where BJP candidate Mukesh Dalal was elected unopposed last week. This decision followed the rejection of Congress’ Nilesh Kumbhani’s nomination and the withdrawal of other candidates from the contest.
The election results for the Lok Sabha polls in Gujarat are slated to be announced on June 4.
