Srinagar: Police in south Kashmir’s Anantnag Wednesday said it has arrested four persons including a ‘heroin dealer’ in the case involving death of a Srinagar youth in a hotel in Pahalgam last week.
On December 27, a youth, identified as Mubashir Sajad Dar of Khanyar Srinagar, had checked into a hotel along with his friends in Pahalgam.
The next morning, Dar didn’t wake up following which he was shifted to Government Medical College (GMC), Anantnag, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
On Wednesday, a police spokesperson said that on December 28, Police Station Pahalgam received information about the death.
Police, as per the spokesperson, initiated an proceedings under section 174 CrPC, and after completing medic-legal formalities handed over the body of the youth to legal heirs.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by SDPO Pahalgam was formed by SSP Anantnag, Sandeep Chaudhary, the spokesperson said.
“Many suspects were rounded up and were questioned which included the deceased’s friends who accompanied him to tourist destination Pahalgam. Technical methods were used to collect evidence which led to some suspects,” he added.
“On the basis of investigation, case FIR no 02 /2021u/s 304 IPC 8/21,20,27, NDPS Act was registered in Police station Pahalgam. Four suspects including the drug dealer who supplied them heroin have been arrested and were identified as Usman Ali Baba Son of Ali Mohammad Baba resident of Wanabal Srinagar, Kateeb Ali Buch Son of Nasir Jan Buch, resident of Wanabal Srinagar, Oman Aftab Dar Son of Aftab Ahmad Dar, resident of Hyderpora Srinagar and the Drugs dealer Reyaz Ahmad Dar Son of Mohd Ramzan Dar resident of Hassanpora Tavela, Bijbehera.”
Police sources said that further investigation of the case is going on.
