Srinagar: Srinagar-Jammu national highway has been opened for traffic after authorities cleared the landslides from the road on Wednesday night.
Traffic was suspended after a massive landslide blocked the road in the Udhampur district on Wednesday.
“Srinagar Jammu National Highway has been cleared for one-way traffic at Dewal, Samroli. The stranded trucks are being cleared. Restoration work for making the road double will be done during the day,” said Aamir Ali, director disaster management department.
A traffic police official advised people not to undertake the journey without contacting the traffic control room in Srinagar and Jammu before embarking on any journey.
