SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 16: Under the patronage of Justice Tashi Rabstan, Chief Justice, High Court of J&K and Ladakh (Patron-in-Chief, J&K Legal Services Authority) and under the dynamic leadership of Justice Atul Sreedharan, Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority as well as under the able guidance of Justice Rajnesh Oswal, Chairperson, High Court Legal Services Committee, a Special Lok Adalat was organized throughout the UT of J&K today with special emphasis on amicable settlement of Revenue Cases that were pending disposal before various courts in UT of J&K. This was the 11th Special Lok Adalat of the current calendar year.
As per the data received from various District Legal Services Authorities across the UT of J&K, a total of 2388 cases were taken up in the Special Lok Adalat, out of which 2268 cases were amicably settled involving a total amount of Rs.2,44,91,500/- giving a huge relief to the litigants.
Amit Kumar Gupta, Member Secretary, J&K Legal Services Authority applauded the efforts of District Legal Services Authorities Jammu and Samba for settling 1044 & 1085 cases respectively which is more than 94% of the total cases settled in today’s Lok Adalat.
Amit Kumar Gupta further informed that this was the 11th Special Lok Adalat of the current calendar year and the next special Lok Adalat shall be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 focusing on the settlement of Consumer Cases. He urged the Advocates in general and the litigants in particular to take maximum benefit of such Special Lok Adalats which are being organized by the J&K Legal Services Authority.
Appreciating the efforts of all the Judicial Officers, Secretaries DLSA’s, Advocates, staff of the district and tehsil courts as well as Legal Services Institutions besides litigants for their wholehearted participation in the Special Lok Adalat and facilitating settlement of cases in such a large number.
Meanwhile, DLSA Ganderbal, in collaboration with the District Administration Ganderbal, organized a special Lok Adalat for revenue cases in the district Ganderbal. The event was held under the supervision of Abdul Nasir, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (Pr. District & Sessions Judge), Ganderbal, and guidance of Sheikh Babar Hussain, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal.
The Lok-Adalat was inaugurated by an elderly man who was a litigant, marking a significant moment in the event.
