SKIMS UPDATE: 10 patients admitted today, 22 positive cases treated in isolation

Srinagar, Apr 4: On a day when 17 fresh cases shot up the J&K figures to 92, at least 10 more patients with coronavirus symptoms were admitted at SK Institute of Medical Sciences, in Soura on Saturday.

A statement from the SKIMS Director’s office informed that 10 patients were admitted to the hospital and their samples have been sent for investigation.

Giving details of the overall coronavirus case figures the hospital has received and treated, the statement read that 219 of the 253 suspected cases have been discharged till date.

The hospital has also performed 392 tests in its microbiology lab so far.

“355 of these tested negative while 37 came out as positive. 22 of these positive cases are presently under treatment in isolation ward and one patient has been discharged after fully recovering for coronavirus,” it added.

Besides, there is one patient, who has been put in quarantine ward after his test came as negative.

SKIMS, Soura and Chest Diseases Hospital, Dalgate are the two hospitals at the forefront of coronavirus treatment in Kashmir.

Both these hospitals do have the required testing facility as well.

“On a threshold of observing massive influx of patients, public at large is again requested to observe and follow all the Government Advisories as well as the instructions from various Health Institutions/Agencies with regard to prevention and control of this infection,” Director SKIMS Dr AG Ahanger

To mention, the number of COVID-19-affected patients in Jammu and Kashmir witnessed its highest spike on Saturday as 17 more persons tested positive for the infection.

Of them, Kashmir witnessed 14 cases while three were detected in Udhampur.

With the huge addition, the total number of positive cases in J&K has reached 92.

Official sources said that among those who tested positive include eight persons admitted to GMC Baramulla. Five other persons are admitted to SKIMS while another one is at CD hospital Dalgate, they said.

Earlier in the day, three persons tested positive in Udhampur district of Jammu division.
