Security arrangements for Jan 26 finalized: Div Com

Jammu, Jan 24: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan on Thursday said that the arrangements for the January 26 (Republic Day) function were being finalized from last couple of days.
On the sidelines of the full dress rehearsal function here at Shere-e-Kashmir Stadium here, Khan said that in connection with the January 26 function, the arrangements were being finalized from last couple of days.
About security, Khan added that all the security arrangements were also finalized for the function.
Earlier, a full dress rehearsal was held in Srinagar today during which the tri-colour was unfurled.
Amid tight security, a full dress rehearsal was held in Srinagar during which the students from different colleges and schools presenting colorful cultural programmes.
The students from different educational institutes presented colorful cultural programmes while as the tri-colour was also unfurled during the function.
Notably, in connection with the rehearsal today at SK Stadium, the traffic movement from Sonawar upto Ram Munshi Bagh Road stretch including Dalgate-Ram Munshi Bagh, Radio Kashmir-Ram Munshi Bagh & Gupkar-Ram Munshi Bagh was suspended since the wee hours of this morning to 02:00 pm.
The traffic police City Srinagar had also informed that the traffic on road stretch mentioned above will also remain suspended on Jan 26.
“The motorists intending to travel from South Kashmir-Pantha Chowk towards City Centre shall adopt Bypass road stretch and vice versa. Similarly the motorists intending to travel South Kashmir from City Centre and Down Town areas shall adopt Batamaloo-Tengpora-Bypass or Rambagh-Natipora road stretch to reach Pantha Chowk,” the traffic police had said, adding that any inconvenience caused is highly regretted.
