Hyderabad: Union minister for coal and mines G. Kishan Reddy on Thursday said that the central government is ready to work with the new Jammu and Kashmir government for the overall development of the union territory.
“The formation of a new government in Jammu and Kashmir won’t have any major impact. We will work for the welfare of people and development. We are committed to J&K’s peace and development. We won’t have any issues till the UT government stays positive. However, we won’t make any compromises on ideological and policy issues, for which we have struggled for years,” he told the media person from Jammu and Kashmir who are on a tour to Telangana.
Reddy said the National Conference-led government should work with the Centre for the welfare and development of Jammu and Kashmir.
The union minister said they are satisfied with the assembly election outcome from Jammu and Kashmir.
“We (BJP) went as per our expectation. We are satisfied with the results. We got a good number of seats, so our vote share increased in Jammu and Kashmir. Even we got a better voting percentage than the winning party National Conference,” he said.
Reddy said Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a peaceful election in 40 years. “There were no incidents of violence during polling. We should appreciate the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
In the backdrop of the recent spate of militant attacks, Reddy said there was no area declared as sensitive in Jammu and Kashmir.
“No area in J&K is sensitive and we will continue promoting it. Tourists won’t be stopped from moving to any specific area in the union territory,”
The union coal and mines minister said they will ponder over the demand of resuming the Darbar move by the National Conference. “If the UT government comes up with such a proposal, we will look into it,” he said.
Reddy said they will hold the auction for Lithium extraction after December saying the process related to it has been completed.
