SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 02: Manzoor Wangnoo, Chairman of the Nigeen Lake Conservation Organisation (NLCO), expressed his gratitude for participating in a crucial meeting convened by the Secretary of the Housing and Urban Development Department (HU&DD) in her office chambers. The meeting, focused on the restoration of Gilsar and Khushalsar, was also attended by the Commissioner of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) and the Vice-Chancellor of the Lake Conservation & Management Authority (LC&MA), and was presided over by the Secretary of HU&DD.
“During this meeting, both short-term and long-term resolutions were discussed and passed to ensure the rejuvenation of these twin urban lakes. NLCO presented a memorandum outlining the challenges faced by these lakes and offered suggestions for their immediate revival,” Wangnoo added.
The NLCO Chairman extended sincere thanks to the Secretary of HU&DD for convening this vital meeting and for the administration’s keen interest in restoring the glory of these crucial water bodies. He also expressed gratitude to the Commissioner of SMC and the LC&MA for their coordinated efforts and support in this important initiative.
It is pertinent to mention that NLCO, under its flagship community-led initiative “Mission Ehsaas,” is working towards restoring the glory of the twin urban lakes of Gilsar and Khushalsar.
