Jammu, Feb 05: The retired policemen on Tuesday staged a protest against the delay in releasing the pay anomaly in their favour, alleging discrimination with them since 1996.
The former cops including Assistant Sub-Inspectors and Head Constables and others took to the streets in Jammu and chanted slogans in favour of justice to press the government over their demands.
The retired cops said that the discrimination is being done with them since 1996 over pay anomaly, urging the government to release the pay anomaly in their favour at an earliest.
“According to a government order under number 229-F of 2014 dated 17-10-2014 regarding pay anomaly is giving effect prospectively, which means from date of order. Whereas, the effect should have been given from the year 1996 when fifth pay commission was implemented throughout the State but only this police department was left out. Some of them have even expired. Surviving strugglers should get the benefit,” the protesting retired cops said.
They said that various pay anomaly committees have been formed and they have given their opinions and approvals from time to time.
“The first pay anomaly committee was formed in the year October 2009 whose G.O No was 1387 GAD dated 8th October 2009 on its recommendations, orders were issued vide G.D No 296 F dated 21st December, 2010 for removal of pay anomaly,” they said.
They added second committee was constituted on 15th September 2011 Govt. revived pay anomaly committee vide order No 67-GAD of 2012 dated January, 2012 to once again look into the pay anomaly. “This file is not found in secretariat office,” they added.
“Now, for the third time again 21st April, 2016, GO No 420 GAD of 2016 is formed to look into pay anomaly. We would like to mention here that like two previous occasions of committees, this third committee should not be time killing. As such we went to know the time frame, since this is lingering on from last 20 years,” the retired cops said, adding that “the finance department has sought clarification from the Director General of Police regarding the pay anomalies to retiree ASIs and H/cS.”
The office of the Director General of Police informed about the amount 5,93,25,000.00 vide office letter No. Est-G-21/2014/10-03-14-15, Dated 17/2/2016 addressed to Principal Secretary Home DepttJ&K, Jammu, the protesters said, adding that the amount may kindly be released in favour of retired ASIs and H/cS.
