Police Seize Assets of Alleged Drug Peddler in North Kashmir

Srinagar: On Thursday, Jammu and Kashmir Police seized a mini shopping complex consisting of four shops owned by a notorious drug peddler in the Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

According to an official, this action against the drug peddler, identified as Farooq Ahmad Dar, son of Mohd Sultan Dar and resident of Lachipora Handwara, was taken under section 68-F of the NDPS Act 1985. Dar is implicated in multiple NDPS cases, including Case FIR No.316/2017 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act of PS Handwara, Case FIR No. 86/2020 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act of PS Handwara, Case FIR NO.242/2021 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act of PS Handwara, and Case FIR NO.36/23 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act of PS Handwara.

The official mentioned that the property was identified as illegally acquired during the investigation/enquiry conducted by Handwara Police, linking it to illicit drug trafficking.

“The owner, a notorious drug peddler, is currently under detention at Kote-bilwal Jammu under the PIT-NDPS Act,” the official added.
