New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today reviewed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

PM Modi was briefed about the security situation in Kashmir in the wake of recent terror-related incidents

During the meeting, NSA Ajit Doval and other officials gave PM Modi an overview of the security-related situation in Kashmir and apprised him of the counter-terror efforts being undertaken in the Union Territory.

“PM asked them to deploy the full spectrum of our counter-terror capabilities,” government sources told news agency ANI.

Separately, the Prime Minister also spoke to Home Minister Amit Shah and discussed the deployment of security forces and counter-terror operations.

“PM also spoke to J&K LG Manoj Sinha and took stock of the situation in J&K. PM was briefed on the efforts being undertaken by the local administration,” sources said.

The security review comes close on the heels of a fresh encounter in the Doda district of Jammu & Kashmir – the fourth such gunbattle in three days.

On Wednesday, an encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in the Kathua region.  The overnight encounter ended after two terrorists were gunned down. A CRPF jawan also lost his life in the operation.

On June 9, nine people were killed and 41 injured as the terrorists opened fire at the 53-seater bus, which was on its way from the Shiv Khori temple to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra, causing it to veer off the road and fall into a deep gorge near the Teryath village of the Poni area of Reasi on Sunday evening.
