New Delhi: Delhi Congress working president Haroon Yusuf has said that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi could trace 3 kg beef, he failed to find 350 kg RDX. Yusuf’s comment was in reference to the Pulwama attack in which 40 CRPF personnel lost their lives after a car laden with explosives rammed into their convoy on February 14. It is suspected around 30 kg RDX was packed into a jerrycan, shards of which were picked up by the investigators on the spot.
Senior BJP leader and Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad termed Yusuf’s statement “scandalous and irresponsible”. While Delhi BJP vice-president Rajiv Babbar claimed Yusuf’s assertion exposed Congress’s “double face”.
“They cannot even wait for a few days and have started defaming security agencies. This exposes their double face. They claim solidarity with the government in all-party meeting and soon start seeking political gains through their shameful comments,” Babbar alleged.
Inveighing against Yusuf’s remarks, Delhi BJP Minority Morcha president Mohammad Haroon termed his statement as “very objectionable”.
“The Pulwama attack shocked the nation and in the meantime, Yusuf has issued a very objectionable statement against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and tried to give it a communal colour,” Haroon alleged. He further said that Yusuf’s comment was an attempt to “divide” the country on “communal lines”.
However, Yusuf defended his statement and said, “What I have said is reality. Can you deny it? Lynching was done for polarisation. You can catch 3 kg beef, kill innocents, but not 350 kg RDX. Isn’t Modi informed by security agencies,” PTI quoted Yusuf as saying.
