Baramulla, Oct 25: Jammu Kashmir Government has ordered a probe into the missing of over five thousand vaccines worth lakhs from Medical Block Pattan here in North Kashmri’s Baramulla district.
Reports said that probe has been initiated after Block Medical Officer Pattan Dr Masrat Iqbal informed media that not a single MMR vaccine is available in the hospital.
He according to sources informed the DHSK that despite repeated pleas, Chief Medical Officer and District Immunization Officer Baramulla failed to supply the vaccines to Medical Block Pattan.
The MMR is a vaccine against measles, mumps, and rubella.
Deputy Chief Medical officer Baramulla while rejecting the allegations leveled by BMO Pattan said that from past one month they supplied over thirty thousand vaccines to Pattan Block against a proper receipt through Store Keeper.
“The records show that only 24,967 vaccines have been used and rest (5333) should have been there in the Medical Block. BMO Pattan needs to explain where the unused vaccines have gone,” he said.
Chief Medical Officer Baramulla Dr Bashir Ahmad Chalko also rejected the allegations of BMO. He said probe has been ordered to ascertain the facts where the vaccines have gone. “It is a serious matter that immediately needs to be probed,” he said.
Director Family and Welfare (F&W) Kashmir Dr Rohit Arun Sharma told the local news agency that guilty will certainly face the music. “The matter is being probed and whosoever turns out to be guilty will face action under law,” he added.
