Srinagar, Aug 30: Bharatiya Janata Party J&K president, Ravinder Raina, has been caught on tape mocking the outgoing Governor NN Vohra and calling the newly elected Governor Satya Pal Malik of the state as “humaaraaadmi” (our man).
In a video, that has gone viral on social media, Raina can be seen standing with a group of men and telling them that the new governor “is our man whereas the previous one was always pushing his point of view, so they got him replaced.”
“Ab Jo Governor AyaHaiWohHamara Banda Hai (Now the Governor who has taken over is our man,” Raina said.
Raina said that “former governor N N Vohra was always thrusting his point of view. “So we got him replaced with the new one”.
The video was widely shared on social media.
71-year-old Malik, a former BJP former national vice president, was sworn in as the 13th governor of Jammu and Kashmir last Thursday, becoming the first politician to hold the post in decades.
The state has been under Governor’s Rule since June 20, after the BJP snapped its ties with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), bringing down Mehbooba Mufti’s government.
Vohra, a career bureaucrat, had been governor of the state since June 25, 2008. Vohra had headed the troubled state four times between governments in his 10-year tenure.
He was reportedly replaced after differences with the Centre over the formation of a new government in the state.
According to reports, hectic backroom efforts are on for the government formation in the state. Insiders say that the BJP is exploring the option of having the first Hindu chief minister from Jammu region in the state. There are also reports that People’s Conference leader Sajjad Lone may get the deputy chief minister post.
If sources are to be believed, there will be another deputy chief minister from among the PDP rebels to make the government formation an inclusive exercise.
