Srinagar, Nov 4: Pandemonium marred the inaugural session of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Monday morning after People’s Democratic Party lawmaker Wahid Parra tabled a surprise resolution against the scrapping of Article 370
BJP lawmakers resisted Parra’s resolution and demanded his suspension, even as Speaker Rahim Rather of the ruling National Conference said he had not yet admitted any motion.
National Conference on Monday said that a PDP MLA made a half attempt to circumvent the government’s move to introduce a resolution against the abrogation of Article 370 in the assembly.
In a post on X, NC said the party expects everyone to support the resolution rather than playing to the gallery.
The party was reacting to PDP MLA Waheed Para’s resolution that he moved against the abrogation of Article 370 on the first day of the assembly session in Srinagar today.
“It was too clever by half attempt by a PDP MLA, clearly aimed at circumventing government move to introduce resolution… We expect everyone to support the resolution rather than playing to the gallery and weakening the collective resolve of those who sincerely want to reclaim our constitutional rights, protection of dignity, and identity,” NC said.
