BARAMULLA, OCTOBER 23: Nazia Bhat, a teacher from Chandilora, Tangmarg, and a prominent figure in Jammu and Kashmir’s education sector, has been honored with the prestigious Dr. Sarojini Naidu International Award for Working Women 2024. The award ceremony took place in Delhi, recognizing her significant contributions to the education sector and women’s empowerment.
Nazia serves as the UT President of the women’s wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Employees Coordination Committee (JKECC) and as the Zonal President of the Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Association (JKTA). Her work has been instrumental in advocating for teachers’ rights and empowering women in Jammu and Kashmir, gaining her national recognition.
This award, now in its eighth edition, celebrates the achievements of working women from various professions across the globe. Nazia’s leadership and dedication have not only highlighted the challenges faced by educators but also brought attention to the resilience and determination of women in J&K.
Upon receiving the award, Nazia Bhat expressed her gratitude, dedicating the honor to the teachers and working women in Jammu and Kashmir. “This award reflects the collective strength of women in J&K who work tirelessly for societal betterment,” she stated.
