Militants shoot dead man in Shopian: Police

Srinagar, Mar 27: A man was shot dead by suspected militants at Kachdoora village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday afternoon.
Tanveer Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Abdullah Dar of Bemnipora Shopian was fired upon by masked gunmen believed to be militants near Masjid Noor at Kachdoora village this afternoon.
A police officer said that Dar was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.
Soon after the incident a joint team of army and SOG launched a cordon-and-search operation in the area to nab the assailants.
A police spokesman said that police has registered a case and officers continue to work to establish circumstances of the incident.

2 youth injured in forces’ firing in Kulgam

Srinagar, Mar 27: Two youths were injured after government forces allegedly opened fire on a group of protesters at Kuger area of Kulgam district in south Kashmir on Wednesday evening.
Reports said that the two youths Faizan Ahmad (8) and Suhail Nazir Bhat (18) were injured after a joint team of police and army allegedly opened fire on a group of protesters at Kuger area.
A senior doctor at PHC Qaimoh said that while Faizan has received bullet injuries in his right shoulder, Suhail had a bullet wound in his left thigh.
Both of them have been referred to district hospital Anantnag, however, the doctors further referred them to Bone and Joint hospital Barzulla Srinagar for advanced treatment. The locals also alleged that the government forces burnt down a cowshed in the village.
SSP Kulgam Gurinderpal Singh said that a petrol bomb was hurled on the joint team of army and police and it hit a cowshed which caught fire. “We have registered a case in this regard.”
Asked how the youth suffered bullet injuries, the SSP said: “We have reports about pellet and not bullet injuries.”
Abdul Majeed Larmi, the former national Conference MLA condemned it and said that the government forces are carrying massacre of people.
