Srinagar, Mar 15: A Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) militant was arrested on Sunday in Baramulla district, police said.
He was apprehended based on credible input about presence of a newly-recruited militant in Bulgam area of North Kashmir’s Sopore in a joint operation launched by 52RR, CRPF and SOG Sopore.
“While conducting the search operation, a militant tried to flee from the spot. Since he was the newly-“activated militant, the endeavour was to force him to surrender or capture him alive,” officials said.
“Security forces exercised extreme restraint under provoking operational situation. Maintaining all caution, forces caught the fleeing militant alive,” they added.
The apprehended militant was identified as Danish Ahmed Kakroo who hails from Chesti Colony in Baramulla. The initial probe suggested he had joined militant ranks only a day ago.
Arms and ammunition were recovered from the militant and further probe was underway.
