Anantnag, Mar 28: The Election Commission of India today issued notification for conducting Lok Sabha Election – 2019 to be held on April 23, 2019.
According to the notification, candidates can file their nomination papers from 28-03-2019 to 04-04-2019. The scrutiny of the nominations will be held on 5th April 2019 while as last date for withdrawal of candidature is April 08.
It is to mention here that Lok Sabah Election for Anantnag Parliamentary Constituency (for Anantnag district) will be held on 23rd of April, 2019 for Kulgam district on 29th of April and for Pulwama and Shopian districts on 6th May, 2019.
According to Returning Officer Anantnag Parliamentary Constituency, an Independent Candidate namely, Dr Ridwana Sanam today filed her nomination papers.
9 Candidates in fray for Baramulla LS Constituency: RO
Srinagar, Mar 28: Baramulla, March 28 Returning Officer for Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency Dr G N Itoo today informed that 9 candidates for the constituency are in fray for upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2019, the polling of which is scheduled in Phase Ist on April 11.
Those in fray now include Haji Farooq Ahamd Mir of INC, Mohammad Maqbool War of BJP, Jahangir Khan of J&KNPP, Abdul Qayoom Wani of J&KPDP, Mohammad Akbar Lone of J&KNC, Raja Aijaz Ali of J&KPC and Javid Ahmad Qureshi , Syed Najeeb Shah Naqvi and Engineer Rashid, all independents.
It is pertinent to mention that as many as 14 candidates have filled their nomination papers wherein 4 nominations were rejected during their scrutiny. One candidate namely Abdul Rasheed Shaheen (Independent) withdrew his nomination today on the last date of withdrawal.
Dr Itoo said that all necessary arrangements which includes security and other requisite arrangements have been made for the smooth, free and fair conduct of the elections.
Meanwhile, the contesting candidates were allotted the election symbols by the Returning Officer in presence of General Election Observer Dr P Shakeel Ahmad. Representatives of various political parties were present on the occasion.
Speaking at the event, Dr Itoo urged upon all the political parties to follow the guidelines envisaged in Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in letter and spirit. He emphasized upon them to approach Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) established in the office of district Information Officer Baramulla to get the certification of political advertisements in print and electronic media outlets.
Later, 2nd phase of randomization of polling staff was held under the supervision of District Election Officer in presence of the Observer. The DEO directed the officers/officials associated with the election to work with utmost dedication and sincerity for successful completion of polls. He assured that all necessary arrangements for the polling staff shall be made for the convenient conduct of polls.
