Srinagar: Over 34% Voter Turnout Till 1 PM in Baramulla Lok Sabha Constituency
More than one-third of the 17.37 lakh electorate in Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency cast their votes by 1 pm on Monday, with a turnout of 34.79%, officials reported.
Polling progressed smoothly across the constituency, which spans 18 assembly segments in Baramulla, Bandipora, Kupwara, and Budgam districts.
The highest turnout of 40.53% was recorded in the Langate segment of Kupwara district. Other segments including Bandipora, Beerwah, Budgam, Gulmarg, Handwara, Karnah, Kupwara, Lolab, Pattan, Rafiabad, Sonawari, Trehgam, Uri, Baramulla, Gurez, and Wagoor-Kreeri reported over 30% turnout, while Sopore had the lowest at 19.44%.
Key candidates include National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah, People’s Conference president Sajad Gani Lone, and jailed Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) leader Sheikh Abdul Rashid, also known as Engineer Rashid. Polling will conclude at 6 pm.
Baramulla constituency saw a 34.89% turnout in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
