Srinagar, Oct 26:Locals on Friday blocked Sopore-Bandipora highway in north Kashmir against the alleged failure of the roads and buildings (R&B) department to macadamize a vital road link.
Dozens of residents assembled near the Kaloosabridge and blocked it for vehicular traffic to protest the apathy of the R&B department. The protesters alleged that the department has ignored the vital road at Muslimabad by leaving the macadamization midway.
They alleged that the “department has instead resorted to the macadamization of lanes and by-lanes of the few influential people and bureaucrats living in the vicinity.”
The protesting people said that road ignored is vital given that it is used as an alternative route to divert traffic during rush hours. Scores of vehicles were stranded on the road due to the blockage.
