Srinagar, April 17 – The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a fresh advisory for Jammu and Kashmir, predicting light rain and thunderstorms at isolated places this evening, with a major weather shift expected from April 18 to 20.
According to the latest forecast, skies will turn generally cloudy by evening today, bringing scattered showers. However, between April 18 and 20, most parts of J&K are likely to witness light to moderate rain and snowfall over higher reaches, with isolated to scattered areas possibly experiencing heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds.
The MeT department has warned of possible disruptions to outdoor activities, road travel, and farm operations during this period. Farmers are advised to halt all agricultural work during the wet spell, while residents and travelers should stay updated on traffic advisories and avoid vulnerable areas prone to landslides and shooting stones—especially in zones like Gulmarg, Sonamarg, and the Srinagar-Leh Highway.
Weather is expected to gradually improve from April 21, with cloudy skies and isolated rain. Dry conditions are forecast to prevail from April 22 to 28 across Jammu and Kashmir.
