LG Sinha expresses sorrow over the tragic road accident in Anantnag

Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, has expressed grief over the tragic road accident in Daksum, Anantnag.

In a condolence message, the Lt Governor has said:

“I am deeply saddened to learn about the loss of precious lives in an unfortunate road accident in Daksum, Anantnag today. My thoughts and prayers are with bereaved family members during this hour of grief. I have issued instructions to the District Administration to provide all necessary assistance to the affected family”.

Earlier in a major road accident on Saturday on the Sinthan-Kokernag route, a vehicle skidded off the road, resulting in the deaths of eight passengers, officials said.

Suheel Ahmad, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kokernag, told Rising Kashmir that the accident occurred near Aarshan Hut, 20 km from Daksum Naka, involving a private car.

He said that Imtiyaz Ahmad, a policeman, along with his five children and two women, was onboard when they met with an accident on the Kishtwar-Anantnag road at the Arashan spot.

“Imtiyaz, the deceased, was coming back to his home in Madwa Kishtwar from Kishtwar where he was posted,” he said.
