Srinagar, Sep 20: Four BSF jawans were killed, and 28 others were injured on Friday when their bus fell into a deep gorge in Budgam.
The bus was carrying 36 soldiers when it plunged into a ravine near the village of Brell.
The hired bus was transporting 36 BSF jawans for election duty during the second phase of the Assembly polls when it fell into a gorge near Brel of Watarhaal in the Budgam district. A rescue operation began with the help of locals, and the injured were taken to nearby hospitals. Photos from the scene show the bus severely damaged.
Director General of Police R.R. Swain has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic road accident of a vehicle in which three BSF personnel lost their lives while several were injured.
DGP has expressed profound sadness over the tragic loss of three Border Security Force (BSF) personnel and injuries to several others in a tragic road accident in the Brell Waterhail area of Budgam district.
On behalf of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, DGP has extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, colleagues, and loved ones of the deceased personnel.
“We mourn the loss of these dedicated soldiers who tirelessly served the nation. We pray for the speedy recovery of the injured and assured all necessary support and assistance by the J&K Police,” he added.
Pertinent to mention that today a bus carrying 36 BSF troopers skidded off the road and fell into a gorge, claiming precious lives and leaving many injured in the Budgam district.
