Kashmiri man detained in Delhi; Rasheed, Sagar raise matter in Assembly

Jammu, Jan 16: MLA Langate Er. Rasheed on Tuesday raised the question of the arrest of Srinagar resident Bilal Ahmad Kawa in the 17-year case pertaining to the bombing incident at Red Fort.
While lamenting the “outsourcing of the state with Delhi Police” Rasheed said: “Are we Kashmiris subjected to get arrested in false cases? Why has this happened? Is the government in liaison with the Delhi Police, if so please brief the house. Why an innocent Kashmiri has been kept in gallows without any proof?”
Joining Rasheed Senior NC leader and MLA Khanyar, Ali Mohammad Sagar said:
“CID Kashmir has cleared him of any charge. The 37-year accused has two kids and his family is in pain since they have come to know about this incident. I have done my personal enquiry in this case and locally people are of the belief that this person is not involved in any militancy activity. Her mother also has assured me that her son is innocent,” he said.
Sagar added: “If an innocent Kashmiri is kept in gallows of no charge, it’s the responsibility of the state to intervene. Such is the plight of the judiciary in India that Supreme Court releases a person after 20 years saying he is innocent. The state should immediately call the home ministry in this regard.”
