SRINAGAR: With the embrace of snowfall in Kashmir, southern areas witnessed bone-chilling temperatures plummeting to minus 17 degrees Celsius.
While Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, marked a low of minus 0.3 degrees Celsius, Jammu recorded a comparatively milder temperature of 5.7 degrees Celsius.
Larnoo in South Kashmir’s Kokernag took the lead as the coldest area at -17.7°C, closely followed by Sonamarg at -15.1°C.
As per data shared by Kashmir Weather, the renowned ski resort of Gulmarg experienced a low of minus 12.0 degrees Celsius, and Pahalgam recorded minus 11.9 degrees Celsius.
Anantnag in South Kashmir reported a low of minus 8.5°C, while Baramulla in the north had minus -1.5°C.
Several areas, including Qazigund, Batote, Banihal, and Bhaderwah, recorded the lowest temperatures in recent years.
Leh town in the Ladakh region recorded minus 9.4, and Kargil marked minus 11.5 as the minimum temperature.
