Actor Govinda, who has had the privilege of working with later veteran actor-comedian-dialogue writer Kader Khan in several super hits like “Raju Babu”, “Coolie No.1”, “Aankhen”, “Bade Miyan, Chhote Miyan”, says senior actor played a major role in his success.
The holy trinity of success in 90’s – David Dhawan, Govinda and Kader Khan has given some of the most memorable films, such as Hero No.1, Raju Babu and more.
Govinda credits Kader Khan for his early and later success, he said, “I have done a lot of hit films with Kader Khan. In my early career, I’d done a lot of movies as a second lead, and my lead hero was Kader Khan. Govinda would do dancing and singing, and Kader Khan Sahab would do the acting. And we had done a lot of hit films, such as Dariya Dil, Jaisi Karni Vaisi Bharni and lot more. And he did quite a few films as a hero in that era”
“I did a lot of hits film and the credit of those films goes to Kader Khan because he wrote the dialogues for those films and in the acting department, he was second to no one. Even in my success, I believe he played a major role” said Govinda.
Kader Khan was a celebrated dialogue writer, and Govinda remembers the help he received from the senior actor with his dialogues on screen.
He said, “He used to write the dialogues, record them and then send to me so that I would not make mistakes enunciating them, do wrong dialogue delivery. Being a principal, he was a teacher to everyone. He had this speciality that whichever artist is working with him, he would elevate the performance level to memorable, be it Amitabh Bachchan, Mithun Chakraborty or me”
Expressing his grief and remembering the legendary actor, Govinda added, “Respected Mr Kader Khan is not among us today, he wasn’t just my master (ustad) but was a like father figure to me. He had such charisma that whichever artist he worked with, supported and lent a helping hand to, he became a star and superstar. The entire film industry and my whole family, we all cannot express our grief in words. I pray to almighty that he give some peace to your soul and give place in heavens above”
Kader Khan died after a prolonged illness at a hospital in Toronto in Canada on Tuesday.
