Srinagar Meteorological Centre Srinagar Monday predicted brief spell of rain and thundershower in few parts of Jammu and Kashmir till end of the ongoing month. However the officials said that J&K may witness rise in day temperatures from August 23rd onwards.
It also said that there is a possibility of intense showers for a brief period and heavy rainfall in Jammu division which may lead to flash floods, landslides, mudslides and shooting stones over vulnerable parts of J&K during August 19 and 20.
“From August 19th to 20th there is a possibility of brief spell of light to moderate rain/thundershower towards late night/early morning at many places, while brief spell of showers at few places is also expected towards late afternoon,” a MeT official informed.
He said from August 21st to 22nd, there is a possibility of a brief spell of rain/thundershower at few places during day time and light to moderate rain/thundershower at scattered places of J&K towards late night/early morning.
From August 23rd to 31st nothing significant weather activity for Kashmir division is expected except brief showers at few places, the official said and added, “Light to moderate rain/thundershower towards late night/early morning over Jammu division is expected”.
The official warns that intense showers (brief period) and heavy rainfall (in Jammu division) may lead to flash floods, landslides, mudslides and shooting stones over vulnerable places of Jammu & Kashmir during August 19th and 20th.
He added that there may be a rise in day temperature from August 23rd onwards.
