Shab-i-Qadr, the Night of Power, is extremely religiously significant for Muslims since it is supposed to be the night when Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was first blessed with the verses of the Quran. People usually celebrate the night traditionally with prayer and special congregation at mosques and shrines all over Jammu and Kashmir.

The rescheduling brings the holiday in line with the community’s expectations, allowing for a more practical observance of the holy night. The directive has been distributed to all significant government departments, such as the police, administrative offices, and legislatures.

This step has been viewed as an attempt to ensure the smooth involvement of the masses in religious practices without any administrative or logistical hurdles. The revised holiday date is likely to be incorporated into all official calendars throughout the Union Territory.
