Srinagar, Nov 25: On the first day of auction for IPL 2025, two players from Jammu and Kashmir were purchased, with Kulgam boy Rasikh Salam being sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 6 crore.
Rasikh, who had already played IPL for Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Delhi Capitals, had registered for the 2025 IPL auction with a base price of Rs 30 lakh.
Rasikh Salam Dar, who hails from the Bhan Ashmuji area of Kulgam, will be part of the IPL for the fourth time.
Abdul Samad, a batting all-rounder from Jammu, who was retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad for three consecutive years, has been purchased by Lucknow Super Giants at Rs 4.2 crore.
The fate of the other 12 players from J&K will be decided today. They include Atif Mushtaq (bowler), Avinash Singh (bowler), Nasir Lone (all-rounder), Mujtaba Yousuf (bowler), Abid Mushtaq (all-rounder), Vibrant Sharma (all-rounder), Shubham Khajuria (batsman), Musaif Ajaz, Kunal Chibb (bowler), Yudhveer Singh (all-rounder) and Aquib Nabi (all-rounder).
Earlier, Indian Premier League (IPL) auction moves into Day 2 in Jeddah with teams holding a combined remaining purse of ₹174 crore to fill their remaining player slots. Punjab Kings leads the available funds with ₹22.50 crore, while Sunrisers Hyderabad has the lowest at ₹5.15 crore.
Day 2 will present players numbered 85 to 564, following the same process as Day 1 until the 116th player, after which the auction will shift to an accelerated format. The accelerated auction will be conducted in two phases, with teams first submitting their preferred players list from numbers 117 to 574. On Day 1,
India’s wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant emerged as the costliest buy in IPL history, surpassing Shreyas Iyer (₹26.75 crore), with a ₹27 crore bid from Lucknow Super Giants. Meanwhile, Venkatesh Iyer stole the show as a surprise pick, returning to his former franchise, Kolkata Knight Riders, for ₹23.75 crore.
