Budget 2024 has either led to an increase in anxiety or a sigh of relief. Well, for iPhone fans, the latter seems to be true. During the budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a reduction of five per cent in basic customs duty (BCD) from 20 per cent to 15 per cent on imported mobile phones, printed circuit boards (PCBA), and mobile chargers.

Days after the move, Apple has reportedly reduced prices across its line of iPhones in India. This is also the first time the Cupertino-based tech giant has lowered its prices for the high-end Pro models in India.

BCD is an indirect tax that is levied on imported goods. It is calculated usually on the assessment value of the product and can vary from zero to 100 per cent depending on factors like the HSN code of the product as well as the country from which it has been imported.

So what are the new prices?

The iPhone 15 Pro which was priced at Rs 1,34,900  is now available at Rs 1, 29,800, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max which was launched at Rs 1,59,000 is now being offered at Rs 1,54,000. While there is a Rs 5,100 price difference on the iPhone 15 Pro, the difference is Rs 5,900 on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Meanwhile, the base models – iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus- have a meager Rs 300 reduction. The new prices for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are Rs 79,600 and Rs 89,600 respectively.  The iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 too have got a Rs 300 reduction and now are priced at Rs 59,600 and Rs 69,600 respectively. The iPhone SE, priced at Rs 49,900, on the other hand, got a massive reduction as now it is priced at Rs 47,600.
