iOS 17: Check list of eligible iPhone devices

Every year, Apple unveils the latest iPhone operating system at WWDC, and this year, Apple too will showcase iOS 17.

iOS 17 is speculated to have several “good-to-have” features, including app sideloading. With the upcoming software release, Apple is also said to have made several new UI changes, including a fully customizable control center and customisable widgets.

They will unveil new software updates for its iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch. The keynote will begin at 10 am PDT at Apple Park in California. You can watch it live on Apple’s YouTube channel.

There’s a chance that the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and iPhone X might drop support next year. iOS 16 dropped support for the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, and the support lasted five years.

Apple might still support all phones beginning with the iPhone XS, but the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and X might not. The list below depicts all the devices guaranteed to get the update.

  • iPhone 14 series.
  • iPhone 13 series.
  • iPhone 12 series.
  • iPhone 11 series.
  • iPhone XS and XS Max.
  • iPhone XR.
  • iPhone SE 2020.
  • iPhone SE 2022.

Apple is expected to discuss the next major version of its phone software at WWDC 2023, like iOS 16. To recall, the first developer beta of iOS 16 was released on June 6, 2022, shortly after WWDC, with the first public beta released on July 11, 2022. The public version of iOS 16 was released on September 12, 2022.

Hence, it is expected that the first developer beta of Apple iOS 17 to be released at WWDC 2023, the event which begins on June 5, and the public version of iOS 17 could launch alongside the expected iPhone 15 later this year.
