India has registered 18,870 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, which is 0.4 per cent higher than yesterday. With this, the country’s case tally has touched 3,37,16,451.
The daily cases count on Tuesday was 18,795, which was 27.8 per cent lower than what was recorded on Monday. This is for the first time in the last six months that the number of cases has gone down below 20,000.
As many as 378 deaths were reported in the country in the last 24 hours, increasing the total death count to 4,47,751, according to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry.
The top five states which registered maximum cases on Tuesday are Kerala with 11,196 cases, followed by Tamil Nadu with 1,630 cases, Mizoram with 1,380 cases, Andhra Pradesh with 771 cases and West Bengal with 708 cases.
At least 83.12 per cent of the new cases were reported from these five states, with Kerala alone responsible for 59.33 per cent of the new cases.
Maximum casualties were reported in Kerala (58), followed by Maharashtra with 32 daily deaths.
