India Post releases special stamp to honour Kargil war heroes

SRINAGAR, JULY 26: The Department of Posts, Ministry of Communication, Government of India, on Friday rolled out a “special concession stamp” as a gesture to pay glorious tributes to the brave hearts who rendered their lives for the integrity of the country during the Kargil war in 1999.

Chief Post Master General, Jammu & Kashmir Circle, Amitabh Singh, on behalf of the department, paid homage to Kargil war heroes, saying, “The aim of rolling out the special stamp is to recollect the sacrifices of Kargil war heroes and pay tributes to them.”

He said, “Our country became victorious due to sacrifices rendered by our soldiers in the Kargil war. Today this stamp will be printed on every letter to remember our soldiers as they made our country victorious.”

The officer added that India Post has many plans in the pipeline for the convenience of the general public, which will be brought to the fore in the coming times. “In the post delivery system, the department has witnessed a 35 percent increase in delivery despite people using other means of communication like the internet. We have many plans in the pipeline, and soon they will be extended for people’s convenience,” he added.
