Srinagar: Parts of Srinagar witnessed massive traffic jams on Srinagar even as commuters complained of “complete mismanagement” on part of the Traffic police department leading to the clogged roads.
The stretch from Jehangir Chowk to Batamaloo witnessed long, snail-paced traffic caused by several bottlenecks created due to installing of barricades at key points.
The stretch from Jehangir Chowk to Batamaloo witnessed long, snail-paced traffic caused by several bottlenecks created due to installing of barricades at key points.
“Imagine if I have to take a U-turn at Jehangir Chowk, I have to drive all the way till Batamaloo to make than turn,” said one commuter, who was caught in the traffic jam while driving to his office.
Another commuter questioned the logic behind blocking of key intersects by the traffic police.
“I don’t understand why they have kept these barricades? If it is for COVID, it is not working because it is causing more traffic jams. There is total mismanagement here,” the commuter rued.
People heading to SMHS hospital said they have to take a long U turn at Sekidafar chowk as the authorities have blocked the chowk leading to the SMHS hospital.
“Imagine an ambulance coming from uptown Srinagar to SMHS has to take a long cut to reach the hospital, we don’t understand the logic of it,” he said.
