In a first, four J&K players qualify Fencing World Cup

For the first time, four fencers from Jammu and Kashmir have qualified for the senior World Cup to be held in Spain and Tunisia.

Vishal Thapar, Javed Ahmed Choudhary, Mayank Sharma, and Shreya Gupta shall participate in the upcoming Senior Fencing Sabre World Cup. 

The men’s World Cup shall be held in Spain from May 6 to 8.  Shreya shall be participating in the Women’s World Cup being held in Tunisia, North Africa from May 6 to 8.

The fencers have qualified on the basis of their ranking and splendid performance in the 32nd Senior National Championships held at Amritsar in March.

Secretary J&K Sports Council Nuzat Gul congratulated the fencers for achieving the feat.

J&K Amateur Fencing Association thanked Nuzhat Gul for providing the best facilities and equipment to the fencers.

Pertinently, the Government of India has sanctioned one Fencing Centre of Excellence at M.A Stadium, Jammu.

Sufficient International standard facilities have been created at the center. These include Gym and Physiotherapy Center.
